    SEPTEMBER 2015

We're getting really excited now as the time to leave for our German tour draws ever nearer, only just over 2 weeks and we'll be sailing! All our gigs are now confirmed and being advertised by the various venues so it feels very real. There is a list of venues published on our gigs page and for all our German fans it would be lovely to see you at any one of the locations we'll be visiting.

    JULY/AUGUST 2015

July and August flew by with holidays and the Edinburgh Festival.  Madelaine had her friends from Colorado visiting, Face Vocal Band, who are fabulous and had a 5 night run in a show at the Edinburgh Fringe.  www.facevocalband.com  Jane surprised Tom with a CD of some of his songs performed by musician friends and presented to him at his birthday party in the Fisherrow Community Centre.  It was a great night with so many talented musicians and Tom loves the CD!  A busy summer for all of us and we are now concentrating on rehearsals for our upcoming tour to Germany in October.

    JUNE 2015

Madelaine here.  Some sad news.  My younger brother passed away after being diagnosed with cancer in March. Tomfoolery managed to do all of our performances but I'm afraid I didn't post anything to our website.  Heavy heart but much to be grateful for and life goes on...

    MARCH 2015

Nearing the end of March and we have a beautiful sunny day here in the Edinburgh area - feels like Spring

We've had a good time this month with lots of Tomfoolery - still, there's never enough! Rehearsals are always good fun and we try to get together once a week but that's not always possible, and then there are weeks like the one before last when the band were together 5 days in a row.  The highlight in March was undoubtedly performing at Leith Folk Club, supporting the wonderfully talented Christine Sparks.  We were joined by Bruce Hogg on slide guitar and even got Gill Hogg up on percussion for our last song.

Madelaine has been a presenter with Radio Saltire for a couple of years and Tom now has a show which he co-hosts with his songwriting partner in crime, poet Bob Sheilds.  "Lowland Folk" is on Tuesdays from 7 - 9pm, and Tom & Bob's "My Little Radio Show" is also on Tuesdays 9 - 11pm. www.radiosaltire.org  Radio Saltire have an app and you can email or text us with requests.  You'll find both Tomfoolery and Radio Saltire on Facebook.

Dunfermline Folk Club is our main performance in April on the 22nd.  www.dunfermlinefolkclub.co.uk

    FEBRUARY 2015

Squeezing in a wee blog before the end of this month.  Tomfoolery have been a bit quiet since New Year due to one cold/flu virus or another but we are all back on form now (touch wood) and have been busy rehearsing for upcoming gigs.  Our revered leader, Tom Fairnie, has likened us to a kindergarten class as when one falls ill the rest of us usually catch whatever it is.  Graham, however, escaped with only a sniffle - must be the Bourbon!

We are looking forward to supporting the wonderful Scottish singer Christine Sparks www.christinesparks.com at Leith Folk Club www.leithfolkclub.com on March 10th and will be joining our friends Gallus Crows at The Mayflower in Dalkeith on May 30th to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.  Next weekend Jane and Tom are hosting a music party.  Nothing better than jamming with friends - and Jane's soup.

Tomfoolery love house concerts if anyone is interested in hosting!  Madelaine hosts a house concert every month and really enjoys them - not much work involved especially if you have musicians who are willing to do a lot of their own promo.  The night usually starts with people arriving at 7.30pm, concert is from 8 - 9pm or so.  They are BYOB so little or no expense.  If you think you might like to host us please drop us an email and Madelaine will give you more information on how she arranges these events.

Lots to look forward to this year - hope to meet y'all somewhere along the way!

    JANUARY 2015

Happy New Year!  2015 got off to a fine start with a guest spot at T in the Car Park (love it) courtesy of Yard Of Ale Band. Unfortunately, Madelaine wasn't feeling great and went downhill rather rapidly after the gig.  There's a nasty virus going around which seems to hang on for a looong time and both Jane and Madelaine are still a little under the weather.  Tomfoolery haven't been fooling around - but that's about to change!  We are getting together soon to see what kind of sound we can make.  Should be interesting...

Our good news is that Tom and Jane welcomed another grandson into the world.

    DECEMBER 2014

Our CD "In The Early Morning" was finished just on time for the launch which is this Saturday, December 6th.  We are very pleased with the result and hope people who buy it will enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.  Tom had a few sleepless nights editing but we are very proud of this, our first CD.  We have already had airplay on Alive Radio, East Coast FM, Radio Saltire and today at Black Diamond FM where Tom and Jane were guests on the Afternoon Show with Mark Mulgrew.  Looking forward to our concert now!

    NOVEMBER 2014

We are looking forward to our concert and CD launch in East Lothian at the very beautiful venue of Tyninghame Village Hall on Saturday December 6th.  This month we have mainly been concentrating on getting our new CD finished and it's almost there.  We've done a few local gigs including a wonderful concert for our friends in Leuchie House, which is a respite care facility  for people and their families living with long-term physical conditions, such as MS, stroke, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's, Motor Neurone Disease and cerebral palsy.

    OCTOBER 2014

We are just back from a very successful mini tour to The Netherlands and Germany.
Tom hosted a songwriting workshop in Apeldoorn and we managed a few days off for sightseeing with our kind host Bernard Brogue.  Germany was wonderful and we have been booked again on October 17th next year.  Friends there have also offered to host a house concert for us and we will post updates.

Headline news for this month is the launch of our CD "In The Early Morning" on December 6th in Tyninghame Village Hall, East Lothian, Scotland at 7.30pm.  Tyninghame is a beautiful old hall and we are really looking forward to this event. Tickets are £10 and can be purchased at the door or on the Store link above.
